During festive season we are mostly busy with extra preparation. And preparing desserts for guests or parties is a time consuming process. So “carrot kheer” is a quick, simple and easy recipe for all of you. Specially for those who have little time to churn out a dessert this festive season.
Beginners, even you can cook it in no time and boast of a delicious dessert. This kheer is an irresistible South Indian dessert which can also be prepared using condensed milk.
Carrots are mostly available through out the year and this dessert does not need any special ingredients. You do not need to wait for big halwa carrots to make this kheer, This tastes better when prepared from small orange carrots. This dessert is also a good option for kids and a delicious way to feed them carrots.
When I had heard about this kheer for the first time I was little surprised. As we all know carrots are mostly used to prepare halwa or burfi but kheer was little unusual. But as we all are big fan of Carrots I decided to give it a try and I am glad that I did that.
Nutritional value of carrots:
Carrots are very nutritious and are a very good source of biotin, vitamin K, dietary fiber, molybdenum, potassium, vitamin B6 and vitamin C. A study showed 1/3 lower cancer risk by carrot-eating rats. The high level of beta-carotene in carrots acts as an antioxidant to cell damage done to the body through regular metabolism.
