Homemade Instant Condensed Milk Recipe

condensed-milkCondensed milk is traditionally prepared by boiling milk and sugar. till it gets thick. It takes a lot of time and energy. That is why most of us prefer buying it from stores. Even I would buy it lot of time till I found out this recipe. It gives same result as store bought condensed milk and it is instant to prepare this homemade instant condensed milk.

Condensed milk is used in many sweets these days. Rabri kheer halva cakes puddings etc. It is readily available on market but it is quite costly and loaded with preservatives. My kid is fond of cakes and I keep on preparing healthy cakes like ragi cake or whole wheat almond cake for him using condensed milk. But baking a cake using all store bought ingredients does not make it any better from a store bought cake. That is why I decided to make Condensed Milk at home.

It requires just 4 ingredients which are easily available in our kitchen. When I tried the recipe for the first time I was so surprised as it tasted like store bought condensed milk.
It can be made in minutes without boiling milk for long and It does not contain any preservatives as well. And you do not have to worry about the expiry dates or hygiene. It can also be stored in refrigerator.

The taste of condensed milk completely depends upon the milk powder that we use. I have used Amul powder over here. I have also prepared lot of sweets using this homemade instant condensed milk. The best part of this condensed milk is that it is instant to make. just mix four easily available ingredients and it is ready.

You can make Chocolate Fudge and cakes using this homemade instant condensed milk.

Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup Hot water (almost boiling)
  • tbsp Unsalted butter
  • 10 tbsp Sugar: powdered form (or you can take 10 tbsp sugar)
  • 3/4 cup Milk powder or dry milk
Instructions
  1. In a bowl take sugar and milk powder.
  2. Add butter to it.
  3. Mix it with the help of spoon. it will have crumbled texture as shown in the pic.
  4. Add hot water and churn with the help of beater or hand blender. First put it on low speed for a minute till ingredients are mixed. After few seconds increase the speed and mix till everything mingles together and mixture becomes smooth and creamy. It may take 2-3 minutes. Make sure the suger is dessolved properly.
  5. Once the condensed milk is ready you can store it in glass bottle or airtight container and keep in the fridge for multiple days
