Instant Kalakand Recipe/ How to make Kalakand
Instant Kalakand Recipe is a royal Diwali sweet which can be prepared in just 15-20 minutes from start to end. It just needs 4-5 ingredients. No body would be able to guess that you made this mouth melting sweet at home in such a short time. Its a milk cake which traditionally takes long to prepare. But this instant recipe will give you the same results with no compromise on taste but in less efforts.
Here I have used all home made ingredients like Home made condensed milk and homemade paneer (please follow the first four steps from “Paneer Bhurji Recipe” for Homemade Paneer preparation). But these things are easily available in stores and if the ingredients are ready it will hardly take 10 minutes to prepare it.
I have a very fond memory of Kalakand during my childhood days. When I was a kid we did not have cakes available at our town so easily. So on my every birthday I would tell my mom to arrange a birthday cake. Those days preparing cake at home was not as easy as it is now. So my mom would prepare this Instant Kalakand and decorate it with gems and flowers. I would happily cut it and relish it.
So this is my moms recipe which is so easy, tasty and quick. Every year on Diwali we prepare it without fail. It is an ideal sweet to gift someone as it looks so beautiful when packed in a box garnished with pista. You can also use almonds and other dry fruits of your choice and also add rose water to it for flavor. I have seen many people adding vanilla essence to it. Even I have tried the same but I like it with traditional flavors of rose water and cardamom. Here I have not added saffron but you can add it if you wish. It also gives Kalakand a nice light orange colour and flavor.
