Pan Mukhwas Recipe/Pan Balls Recipe
Pan Mukhwas is a Betel Leaves flavoured mouth fresher which leaves the amazing flavours of pan, gulkand and fennel seeds/saunf. I had first tasted this mouth fresher in a wedding and I was an instant fan of it.
I initially got ready made pan mukhwas from markets. And every time I would get a different taste. So I thought to try it at home. I searched for so many recipes but every time I would come across some rare ingredients which are not easily available in market. Few recipes also suggested to add katha and chuna to give it exact pan taste. But my kid also like having mouth freshener so I did not want to use these ingredients. Here I have skipped Beetle nuts or supari which you can add if you wish.
This is such a forgiving recipe as you can alter it as per your choice. The main ingredient in this mouth freshener is gulkand. Along with fennel seeds I have used coloured fennel seeds too. It gives this recipe much needed sweetness and freshness.
There are few optional ingredients like dhana daal, beetle nut,kashmiri masala,katha,chuna and rose petals. But these are completely optional. Few recipes calls for dried nagarvel pans or bettel leaves. few also recommended to make sugar syrup. But simply grinding the leaves also gives this mukhwas an amazing texture. Adding tutti fruity and gulkand makes it moist. Its easy to roll them and serve as pan balls.
Just few readily available ingredients, 6 minutes and this amazing mukhwas would be ready. It is not only tasty but also improves our digestion.
