Schezwan Chakli/Szechuan Murukku Recipe
Schezwan Chakli is a Chinese flavoured murukku which is widely available in market these days. But we hardly prepare it at home as we have been preparing Chakli or Butter murukku since years. This snack gives you a welcome change from all our regular dry snacks. This schezwan chakli or schezuan sticks is a quick snack and also has good shelf life. You can store it for more than a week in an air tight container. As the name says schezwan sauce is used in this recipe and a pinch of citric acid which gives it a nice taste.
This is a fusion recipe combining Chinese and indian tastes. Here I have used schezuan Sauce but if you wish you can also use masala. It tastes the same after frying. This recipe gives you a little different taste and flavour compared to the store bought chaklis. But it is definitely worth trying. Here I have used urad dal flour which is easily available in stores these days but if you do not get this flour ready made, you can prepare it at home easily. Along with urad dal rice flour gives this snack crispy texture. Make sure that the dough is soft otherwise chakli will be brittle and will break easily. I have not made this chakli very spicy but if you wish you can add little more chilli powder to make it spicier.
Chaklis are made with lot of combination and from different flours. You can check rice chakli and butter chakli or butter murukku here. These schezuah chaklis are not shaped like traditional round chaklis because it is known as schezuan sticks also.
